IBM to acquire Vallent Corp.

Armonk-based IBM Corp. has agreed to acquire Vallent Corp., a supplier of network performance monitoring and service management software.
Vallent, based in Bellevue, Wash., caters to wireless service providers and has more than 200 customers worldwide. The privately held company has 400 employees.
Terms of the deal, announced this morning by IBM, were not disclosed.
IBM said in a news release that Vallent’s technology will help communications service providers manage their networks as they introduce new services.
IBM shares were trading at $91.26, down 19 cents, at 11:15 a.m. on the New York Stock Exchange.
