Barr Laboratories Inc., which has a production plant in Pomona, said today that it is seeking approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to produce a generic version of Celgene Corp.’s Thalomid capsules in 200 mg form.
Thalomid, which treats a form of leprosy, is a form of thalidomide.
Celgene said it would challenge Barr’s application as an infringement of its Thalomid patent.
Celgene stock fell 2 percent to close at $56.35. Shares of Barr gained 30 cents, closing at $51.10.
