Briarcliff attorney takes helm at Westchester chamber

January
31

The Business Council of Westchester reports that Stephen J. Jones has been elected the chamber’s chairman, effective Jan. 1.

Jones, who recently concluded four terms as a Tarrytown judge, is managing partner at Jones Garneau LLP, a law firm with offices in Scarsdale and Manhattan.
As newly elected chairman, Jones is overseeing the implementation of the council’s strategic plan, which the board adopted today.

The plan seeks to improve the county’s business climate, Jones said, “to basically make Westchester the No. 1 place in the country for the wealth prosperity and business health of the membership in the greater community.

Among the issues Jones will be seeking to tackle during the next two years on behalf of the council’s membership are rising costs of health and workers’ compensation insurance, high energy costs and the replacement or rehabilitation of the aging Tappan Zee Bridge.
