Electro-Optical Sciences Inc. reports that it has begun a “pivotal trial of its MelaFind skin-cancer detection device, which captures images of suspicious moles and compares them to a giant database of skin lesions.
EOS officials plan to submit 1,200 pigmented lesions and at least 93 melanomas for analysis as part of the trial.
In October, the Irvington-based company was granted an expedited review of its MelaFind application, upon its submission to the Food and Drug Administration, which, EOS said, it expects to do in the second half of the year.
