Barr company gets drug approval

Barr Pharmaceuticals Inc., which has operations in Pomona, said today its newly-acquired subsidiary, Pliva d.d., has gotten government approval to make and sell the generic version of Pfizer Inc.Ã¢â‚¬â„¢s depression drug Zoloft. Pliva plans to begin marketing the drug immediately, Barr said. Zoloft had 2006 sales of $2.9 billion, Barr said. The drug treats severe depression in adults.
