Eastview-based Emisphere reports quarterly loss

Emisphere Technologies Inc. Eastview reported this morning that it lost $3 million, or 30 cents a share, during the fourth quarter of 2006.

A year earlier, the company lost $9.2 million, or 41 cents a share. Revenues were $300,000, compared with $100,000, during the previous year’s fourth quarter.

For the full year, Emisphere lost $41.8 million, or $1.58 a share, compared with a loss of $18.1 million, or 81 cents a share, in 2005. Emisphere is a biopharmaceutical company that is developing ways for people to take drugs orally instead of by injection.

The company’s shares were trading at $5.42, up 15 cents at 10:18 a.m.
