IBM in pact with India company

IBM Corp. of Armonk has been awarded a 10-year contract to improve an India-based cell phone companyÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s business processes and computer systems.

The contract with Idea Cellular Ltd. could be worth up to $800 million, depending on Idea CellularÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s revenues and expansion.

Idea Cellular, which has more than 14 million customers, said it expects the contract to help it control costs and increase revenue streams.

IBM shares closed at $94.50, up 51 cents yesterday.
