Safety Engineers society forms local chapter

March
27

The American Society of Safety Engineers has established a Hudson River Valley Chapter, which will include members from Westchester, Putnam, Rockland, Orange and surrounding counties. It was formed out of the existing Metropolitan Chapter, based in New York City, to make it easier for members north of the city to participate. Meetings will be held at various locations throughout the region. Plans include working with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration to help train high school students at local technical schools in safety and health, and sponsoring or co-sponsoring a Certified Safety Professional preparation course.

The executive board members of the new chapter include Matthew F. McDonald, president; Susanne May, vice president; Robert G. Ewoldt, CSP, secretary; and Gary H. Hohenstein, treasurer/finance. The society, for occupational safety, health and environmental professionals, has 150 chapters. For more information, visit its Web site (www.asse.org).
