Regeneron Pharmaceuticals Inc. of Eastview announced this morning that it has agreed to let a Japanese company use Regeneron technology in its research in return for an upfront payment of $20 million and the possibility of more payments in the future.
Astellas Pharma Inc. of Tokyo will use the VelocImmune technology in its quest to develop human antibody products. Astellas will make up to five future annual payments of $20 million based on the success of the research. If Astellas commercializes any products, it would pay Regeneron a royalty on sales.
Regeneron shares closed yesterday at $21.25, down 29 cents.
