Nokia, the Finland-based cell phone maker with major operations in Harrison, said today that it has begun selling its Nokia N95 multimedia computer in the United States. The handheld computer, which costs $749, switches between phone, music or video mode and is equipped with WiFi Internet connectivity, GPS and a 5-megapixel camera.
The N95 is designed to replace other single-purpose gadgets, like music players, cameras and phones, with an all-in-one device, said Bill Plummer, the vice president for sales and channel management for multimedia products at Nokia North America.
Nokia has been keeping a waiting list for months for the N95 at its company stores in New York and Chicago. Customers drove to the E. 57th Street store from Delaware and Massachusetts, Nokia said.
