The manager of the Scarsdale office of Sotheby’s International Realty Inc., where 17 real estate agents jumped ship last week to work for Houlihan Lawrence, has left the agency, Sotheby’s confirmed today.
The manager, Mark Ripka, and his successor, David Mazzucco, could not be reached for comment.
Mazzucco was described as the chief operating officer for the eastern region, in a brief statement the company released.
“We will continue to offer premium service, and to hire and retain the very best agents who mirror our long-term commitment to Westchester County, the statement said.
Sotheby’s entered the Westchester market in January 2006 when it acquired the Julia B. Fee Agency. The 17 agents who left last week had all been with Fee prior to its acquisition. One agent who left, Eileen Brennan, had described working for Sotheby’s as “culture shock and said she had difficulty getting management decisions on advertising and other issues.
No longer a part of the famous auction house, Sotheby’s International Realty is owned by Realogy Corp., which was spun off by Cendant Corp. last year. In addition to Scarsdale, it has offices in Rye, Larchmont, Chappaqua, Katonah, and Armonk.
