darien-ct190_ct_2421.jpgThe owners of The Melting Pot franchises in Connecticut and New Jersey have signed a lease in White Plains for a third restaurant, which they expect to open in September. Will and Carol Layfield of Ridgewood, N.J., have leased more than 6,000 square feet in the Downtown Crossing project at 30 Mamaroneck Ave. between Main Street and Martine Avenue. It will be the couple’s third restaurant. They currently own and operate the fondue restaurants in Darien, Conn, and Westwood, N.J. (At right is a photo of the Darien restaurant taken by Will Layfield.)

He said it was White Plains’ “rejuvenation and the availability of parking that convinced him to choose it for their Westchester franchise.

“We were watching the improvement in White Plains, and then with the announcement of the Ritz Carlton, I said, ‘Honey, we’ve got to go for it.’ Layfield said.

The Melting Pot, based in Tampa, Fla., has more than 100 restaurants nationwide and 30 in development. For more information, visit the company’s Web site: www.meltingpot.com.
