General Bearing makes $1.73 million

General Bearing Corp., a West Nyack company whose shares trade over the counter, earned $1.73 million during the first quarter, a drop from the $2.07 million the company earned last year. On a per-share basis, the company earned 44 cents this year and 51 cents last year. Sales were up to $31.66 million from $27.95 million. the company makes ball bearings for the automotive, railroad, office equipment, machinery and appliance industries. Its shares closed at $18, up 25 cents.
