Irvington-based Prestige Brands earns $8.4 million

May

Irvington-based Prestige Brands Holdings Inc., which markets Comet, Murine eye and ear drops and other consumer products, earned $8.4 million during the quarter that ended in March, compared with $3.6 million a year earlier.

The earnings were equal to 17 cents a share, an increase from last year’s 7 cents a share.

Revenues were $78 million, a 2 percent drop from last year’s $80 million, said the company, which rounded off the figures.

Earnings would have dropped by 5 percent if not for the September 2006 acquisition of Wartner brand wart treatment products, the company said.

Prestige shares closed at $13 yesterday, down 15 cents.
