The board of directors of Provident Bancorp New York of Montebello, parent company of Provident Bank, removed a clause in the corporate bylaws that prohibited people 75 or older from serving on the board. The board’s decision last week comes just in time for director Donald T. McNelis, who was listed as age 74 in the most recent proxy statement and was re-elected to a new three-year term on the board on Feb. 15. Other septuagenarians on the board are William F. Helmer, 72, who also was re-elected in February; Dennis L. Coyle, 70; and Richard A. Nozell, 73.
