Westchester amends licensing law for electricians, plumbers

June
7

The Trades Licensing division of Westchester County Clerk’s office has amended rules applying to electricians and plumbers, imposing fines against those who violate electrical and plumbing laws. The change makes it easier for the agency to implement fines and also raises the amount of the cheapest fine to a level that is at least equal to the cost of a license. In addition, the amended law allows for fines to be levied for each violation and criminal matters to be referred by each trades’ respective board to the county District Attorney. The new law also extends authority to grant reciprocal licenses to individuals licensed outside of Westchester who meet certain requirements of the Board of Plumbing Examiners. Such authority was already held by the Electrical Licensing Board, the clerk’s office said.
