Acorda sells more shares to stock underwriters

Acorda Therapeutics Inc., a biotechnology company in Hawthorne, said the underwriters of its June public stock offering have exercised their entire option to purchase an additional 562,500 shares at $18.50 per share. The exercise of the option increases the size of the total offering to 4,312,500 shares. The company said it plans to use the proceeds for further testing of Fampridine-SR, a drug for people with multiple sclerosis, and other corporate purposes. Acorda shares closed at $19.52, up 24 cents.
