Universal American posts higher 2Q profits

Universal American Financial Corp., a Rye Brook-based provider of Medicare Advantage insurance and other health coverage plans, yesterday said it had higher second-quarter profits. It reported net income of $22.3 million, or 35 cents a share, on revenues of $703.5 million. For the comparable quarter a year earlier, it had net income of $18.1 million, or 30 cents a share, on revenues of $328 million.
