Gamco reports higher profits

Gamco Investors Inc., the Rye-based money management firm founded by Mario Gabelli, reported net income of $18.0 million, or 63 cents a share, during the second quarter. That was up from $8.9 million, or 31 cents a share, a year earlier. Revenues of $85.6 million rose from $73.2 million. Assets under management were a record $30.6 billion on June 30, up 14.4 percent from a year earlier, as the company benefited from a favorable investment climate for most of this year.
