Simon Property Group Inc. is expanding its energy-efficiency program for its malls throughout the United States by partnering with ConEdison Solutions, ConEdison Solutions announced today

A subsidiary of Consolidated Edison Inc., ConEd Solutions is an energy-services company based in White Plains.

Simon Property Group, based in Indianapolis, is the nation’s largest owner, manager and developer of retail properties, with 380 properties in North America, Europe and Asia. In the Lower Hudson Valley, they include The Westchester in White Plains, The Galleria at White Plains, the Jefferson Valley and Nanuet malls and Woodbury Common Premium Outlets in Central Valley.

The audits will start immediately, and work will begin in the next few months, said Michael Perna, vice president of business development for ConEd Solutions. â€Ĺ“Our president is going to be flying out to Indianapolis next week to sit down with the folks at Simon, and we’ll start to get some indications then of how they want to prioritize their properties across the country,â€? he said.

Audits will involve looking at a facility’s energy consumption and equipment and making recommendations. The scope of the work will determine the fee.

Changes will include improvements in lighting, air conditioning, heating and energy controls. Projects are likely to include installing new lighting systems; tightly controlling lighting in parking lots and back-of-the-house areas; and installing new heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, according to ConEd Solutions.
