Pepsi changing its drink mix

September

PepsiCo Inc., the beverage and snack food company in Purchase, plans to introduce a new Gatorade drink.

The company said G2 will be the first variation of the Gatorade brand.

Since Gatorade hit the market 40 years ago, it has been marketed as a thirst quencher for athletes. PepsiCo said G2, with just 25 calories per 8-ounce serving, will be marketed as a drink that keeps athletes hydrated off the field of play so that they are better prepared for their sports activities.

The company also plans to introduce Propel Invigorating Water, part of its Propel water brand. The new water product will be vitamin enhanced and â€Å“mildly caffeinated,â€? the company. It will have a light flavor and 20 calories in every 8 ounces.

Pepsi’s SoBe Life Water is being reformulated with table sugar, antioxidants, vitamins and natural herbs. The new formulations will have 35 calories per serving, a drop of 30 percent.

The company is also adding a new sweetener blend and nutrients to the Aquafina Alive product.
