Plans for job cuts at First Franklin Financial Corp. will not affect its operation in Tarrytown, a spokesman for the mortgage company’s owner, Merrill Lynch & Co., said today.

Merrill Lynch said an unspecified number of jobs would be cut at First Franklin, which it bought last year. The mortgage company has a loan processing center at 200 White Plains Road.

Merrill Lynch spokesman Bill Halldin said the company does not disclose the size of employment at individual operations.

First Franklin, based is San Jose, Calif., has specialized in mortgages for people with less than perfect credit.

“First Franklin has been successful over 26 years because of its ability to adapt to changing market conditions, a company statement said. “We have adjusted our staffing levels to be in line with current business requirements.
