Bunge Ltd., the White Plains-based agribusiness giant, announced that it agreed to buy a sugar-cane mill and ethanol production plant in Brazil from the Tenorio Group.

The purchase price for the plant, known as Agroindustrial Santa Juliana, was not disclosed.

It is Bunge’s first acquisition of a plant in the sugar- based ethanol industry. The mill, which opened last year, has the capacity to mill 1.6 million metric tons annually. Bunge said that it plans to expand the capacity to 4 million metric tons in coming years.
