FDA approves AFP mouth scanner

AFP Imaging Corp. of Elmsford said the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved the company’s request to market its NewTom VG Cone Beam Computed Tomography Scanner. The dental imaging system provides three-dimensional pictures of the teeth and jaws, and allows patients to stand, sit, or remain in their wheelchairs while being scanned. AFP said the worldwide market for such systems is estimated to be more than $600 million over the next few years.
