Drug companies settle

Pomona-based Barr Laboratories Inc. and Par Pharmaceutical Co. Inc., which has research and manufacturing operations in Chestnut Ridge, said they have an agreement to settle a patent dispute with Valent Pharmaceuticals North America related to ValentÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s Diastat rectal gel products. Barr will have the right to market generic versions of Diastat and Diastat AcuDial starting Sept. 1, 2010, or earlier under certain conditions. Barr will split the profits with Par. The products had combined sales of $75 million in the year that ended in August.
