IBM buys Virginia company

IBM Corp., the giant computer company in Armonk, announced today it has an agreement to buy NovusCG, a privately held storage solutions company based in Manassas, Va., for an undisclosed price.

Novus will become part of the Storage and Data Services unit in IBM’s $32 billion Global Technology Services business.

IBM said the acquisition will help it provide clients with better access to business information. It will make it easier for clients to comply with regulatory requirements, improve the performance of their information technology systems and reduce costs, IBM said.

The acquisition of Novus follows IBM’s January purchase of Vienna, Va.-based Softek Storage Solutions.

Val Rahmani, general manager, Infrastructure Management Services, IBM Global Technology Services, said: “The acquisition of Novus marks a turning point for our clients. This provides what clients have been missing — the information that will allow them to align their IT and business strategies.

Novus clients include Fortune 500 corporations as well as mid-market companies in the banking, health, retail, telecommunications and other industries, IBM said.
