Universal American hits the Big Board

The newly named Universal American Corp., an insurance holding company in Rye Brook, began trading on the New York Stock Exchange today. The company’s shares are listed under the ticker symbol “UAM.� Before today, the company, which primarily caters to the senior market, was known as Universal American Financial Corp. and traded on the Nasdaq Stock Market. The shares closed at $23.34, down 50 cents.
