PepsiCo in joint venture with Strauss

PepsiCo Inc. of Purchase and Strauss Group, an international maker of chocolate, coffee and other snacks and beverages, said this morning they have an agreement to run Sabra, a company that makes hummus dip and has annual sales of $56 million.

Sales of hummus in the United States were $180 million last year, the companies said.

Hummus is made with oils that have no trans fats or cholesterol.

Sabra also makes eggplant dips, Mediterranean salsa and other food products.
