Hitachi gets approval for cancer treatment

Hitachi America Ltd. of Tarrytown said the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved an irradiation technology the company developed for treating cancer. Hitachi’s proton beam therapy focuses radiation at tumors deep within the body; the technology will be used at the MD Anderson Cancer Center at the University of Texas in Houston. Hitachi America is a subsidiary of Hitachi Ltd.
