Advanced Viral Research Corp. of Yonkers is the second Westchester County biotech company in three months to announce the movement of some of its operations to New Jersey.
Advanced Viral said today it has set up new lab space at an “incubator facility in New Brunswick, N.J.
The state-of-the-art lab will be used for the company’s work on AVR118, a treatment it is developing for wasting conditions associated with cancer and AIDS. The new lab also will be used for research into new compounds that the company recently acquired from Cetek Corp.
To reduce costs, the company also announced it will outsource the manufacture of AVR118 to a company with the capability of producing commercial volumes of product.
“Through outsourcing, ADVR can substantially reduce the high costs associated with the maintenance of a sterile drug manufacturing facility, President and Chief Executive Officer Stephen M. Elliston said in a statement.
Advanced Viral said it is moving its headquarters to another location within the Yonkers corporate park where it’s currently based. The new address is 6 Executive Plaza, Suite 283, Yonkers, NY 10701. The company also has a new Web site, www.adviral.com.
In October, Emisphere Technologies Inc. said it would move its management from its headquarters at The Landmark at Eastview to Cedar Knolls, N.J., although it would keep lab operations in Eastview.
