Carmel man takes insurance post

David J. Walsh of Carmel has been named the president and chief executive of Amalgamated Life Insurance Co., a life and health insurer in New York.
Walsh will succeed the retiring Ronald Minikes, effective Jan. 21.
He previously was executive vice president at SBLI USA Mutual Life Insurance Company, Inc. He was also senior vice president and general counsel for Swiss Re America and superintendent and corporate counsel for Swiss Re Life and Health.
He also served as general counsel of the Domestic Brokerage Group of AIG, and director of insurance for the State of Alaska.
