Progenics Pharmaceuticals Inc., an Eastview-based biotechnology research company, said it has started the second phase of testing for PRO 140, a drug to treat people with the AIDS virus.
The tests will seek to determine the right dosing and assess the drug’s safety, the company said.
The test will involve 70 people who are in the early stages with the virus.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration said two years ago it would put the drug on the fast track for approval.
