MBIA shares drop 24.6 percent

Shares of struggling bond insurer MBIA Inc. of Armonk declined sharply this morning after Moody’s Investors Service said it was placing the ratings of rival Ambac Financial Group Inc. on review for a possible downgrade.
MBIA shares were trading at $10.10, down $3.30, or 24.6 percent, at 11:11 a.m. The stock has lost 45.8 percent of its value this year and 85.4 percent the past 12 months.
