Nutrition 21 reports test results

Nutrition 21 Inc., the Purchase company that markets nutritional supplements, said a study showed that taking chromium picolinate increased the brain activity in older adults who were experiencing a deterioration in their memory.

Robert Krikorian, the lead researcher and an associate professor in the psychiatry department at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, said the study showed “greater brain “activationâ€? in adults who were taking part in demanding tasks.

The study measured whether taking chromium picolinate for 12 weeks might affect brain activation in 13 adults. Researchers had the subjects undergo functional magnetic resonance imaging scans while the subjects performed tasks that required thought.
