MVC Capital reports

MVC Capital Inc., a Purchase-based business development company that makes private debt and equity investments, said its net assets grew to $387.5 million, or $15.95 per share, during the quarter that ended in January.

At the start of the quarter, the company had net assets of $369.1 million, or $15.21 per share.

The company reported net operating income of approximately $3.3 million for the first quarter of its fiscal 2008, compared to a loss of $1.6 million a year earlier.
