A retired marketing executive at Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings Inc. of Purchase has been retained as a special adviser to the company at a minimum annual rate of $240,000, the company said today.

The new deal also provides Ronald A. Lane a lump-sum severance payment of $426,000 that was due him under his previous employment contract, the company said. An additional $100,000 in severance will be paid at the end of 2010, one year after the expiration of the new agreement.

Lane, formerly senior vice president and chief marketing officer, retired at the end of 2007.
