Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. of White Plains said its Sheraton hotel chain is planning a major rollout this year, with North American investment alone valued at $2 billion.
The company said 54 Sheraton hotels and 20,000 new rooms will be added by year’s end. The hotels will be chiefly in the United States, but also in Ireland, Argentina, Egypt, and China.
Starwood said it is trying to revive the Sheraton brand, which has 406 hotels and resorts in 71 countries. The multi-year plan includes upgrading 100 hotels in the United States.
