PepsiCo gets honors for energy efforts

PepsiCo Inc., the soda and snack food company in Purchase, has been honored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for its efforts to save energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The company received the 2008 Energy Star Partner of the Year Award and the Sustained Excellence award. The Sustained Excellence award is for businesses that have shown a commitment to energy efficiency for a number of years.

PepsiCo said its buildings use energy-efficient equipment and motors. The buildings have energy-efficient windows and skylights. The company also uses systems to capture waste heat.
