6 WOMEN GET BUSINESS GRANTS

Six women-owned businesses in Westchester County received a total of $11,000 in grants through an entrepreneurship program sponsored by the Women’s Enterprise Development Center Inc. of White Plains and the Women & Co.® Microenterprise Boost program.
WEDC provides business training and support services to entrepreneurs in the Lower Hudson Valley. The six business owners also will receive business skills training from WEDC.
Women & Co. is designed to help low- and moderate-income women owners of businesses with five or fewer workers. Citi Foundation funds the program. More than 300 women entrepreneurs across the United States have received a total of more than $350,000 in grants from the program.
The winners of $2,000 grants were Leslie Allicks, Lola’s Tea House, Pelham; Rhonda Campbell, Trinity Design Management Group, Mount Vernon; Maxine Palmer, Riverdale Avenue Flowers and Gifts, Yonkers; creative designer/illustrator Donna Simons of Pound Ridge; Tamara Wrenn, Just Us Women Productions, New Rochelle. Marilyn Miller, Pilates on Hudson Inc., Peekskill, won $1,000.
