Putnam businesses eligible for SBA loans

Small businesses in dozens of counties acrosss New York state that suffered losses from frosts and freezes that happened from April 28 through May 28 are eligible for federal economic injury disaster loans, according to the U.S. Small Business Administration.

Putnam County is covered under the program. In addition to small businesses, the loans are available to small agricultural cooperatives and most private, non-profit organizations of all sizes.

Eligible small businesses and non-profit organizations may qualify for loans up to $2 million, according to SBA. These loans are available at a 4 percent interest rate with loan terms up to 30 years.

Disaster victims can call the SBA’s Customer Service Center at 1-800-659-2955 Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
