IBM contract valued at up to $800 million

IBM Corp., the computer services giant based in Armonk, has landed a contract that could be valued as much as $800 million from the biotech company Amgen Inc.

Under the five-year contract, IBM will provide computer services for Amgen, including assitance with electronic messaging systems, networks, helpdesk support and computer servers, according to an Amgen filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
The contract includes three one-year renewal options for Amgen, which is based in Thousand Oaks, Calif.

In another announcement, IBM said that it agreed to a five-year contract with Norddeutsche Landesbank Girozentrale, a major bank based in Hannover, Germany. The contract, which extends an agreement announced by the companies in 2004, calls for IBM to manage the technology infrastructure for more than 5,000 employees at the bank.
