Two historians, a journalist, and a winner of a Nobel Prize will headline a panel discussion entitled “Ruffles, Flourishes and Challenges: Issues Facing the New President and Congress,” Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the Academic Arts Theatre at Westchester Community College in Valhalla.
The panelists are economist and New York Times columnist Paul Krugman, who won the Nobel for economics this year; Richard Norton Smith, a historian of the American presidency who appears on “The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer;” National Review editor Rich Lowry, a commentator on the Fox News Channel; and Sean Wilentz, history professor at Princeton University and contributing editor at The New Republic.
Lester M. Crystal of Scarsdale, a member of the Westchester Community College Foundation board of directors and president of MacNeil/Lehrer Productions, will moderate. The discussion is part of The President’s Forum, a fund-raising event of the foundation’s for the last 24 years. Entergy is sponsoring the program.
A wine and cheese reception will follow the discussion at 4:30.
Tickets are $75 each. For more information, call 914-606-6558 or visit www.sunywcc.edu.
