Jarden CEO to appear on “The Martha Stewart Show”

The Ball canning jar, a fixture in many American households that preserve fruits and vegetables, is celebrating its 125th anniversary.

In honor of the occasion, the top executive of Jarden Corp, the Rye-based company that sells the jars, will appear on “The Martha Stewart Show” nationally on Friday. In New York area, the program will be broadcast on WNBC-TV (Channel 4) at 11 a.m.

During the show, Jarden Chief Executive Officer Martin Franklin and Stewart recount the history of the famed Ball jar, explore creative uses of the jars and discuss the product’s versatility in today’s home. The jar was first introduced in 1884 by the Ball Brothers Glass Manufacturing Co. in Buffalo. Jarden currently manufactures the jars in Daleville, Ind.
