Yonkers-based Consumer Reports has named the Toyota Highlander and the Chevrolet Avalanche as its top choices for midsized sports utility vehicles and pickups. The Toyota Prius remained the magazine’s favorite in the “green” car category for the sixth straight year. The Prius’s 44 overall mpg was the best Consumer Reports measured in a five-passenger car. These are among the “Top Picks for 2009” that are part of Consumer Reports’ annual auto issue that was unveiled today at a Washington press conference.
