Mario Gabelli’s Rye-based money-management company said this morning one of its funds will increase its focus on investing in environmentally friendly businesses.
Gamco Investors Inc. said the board of directors of The Gabelli SRI Fund approved a broadened “green investing” emphasis. The board also voted to change the name of the fund to Gabelli SRI Green Fund Inc.
The fund began investing nearly two years ago with the intention of targeting companies that act in a socially responsible manner. The fund will now invest 80 percent of its assets in companies that meet the criteria for social responsibility and environmental sensitivity, Gamco said.
