Compensation totals $1.13 million for TAL executive

April

Chief Executive Officer Brian M. Sondey earned $1.13 million in total compensation last year at TAL International Group Inc., the Purchase-based company that leases freight containers to shippers. That was up nearly 11 percent from Sondey’s compensation in 2007.

His compensation package in 2008 included a salary of $525,000 and non-equity incentive plan compensation of $590,625.

TAL is feeling the effects of a slumping global economy in which manufacturers around the world are exporting fewer goods. Sondey said the outlook is uncertain this year when the company released quarterly earnings in February. “For the full year of 2009, our results will be highly dependent on how long global containerized trade volumes remain at depressed levels,” he said.
