IBM signs technology contract with Japanese insurer

IBM Corp. said that it has signed a five-year extension to a technology outsourcing contract with Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance, a major financial services conglomerate in Japan.
As part of the agreement, Armonk-based IBM will manage Mitsui’s computer mainframe systems.
The new agreement follows an original ten-year contract signed by the companies in August 1999. Financial terms of the contract were not disclosed.
