As a business reporter, Alison Bert writes about consumer issues and retail news. Previously she covered education. She joined The Journal News staff in 2000 after making her living as a classical guitarist and music professor. She was a Fulbright Scholar in Spain, studied in a master class with Andrés Segovia, earned a doctorate in music from the University of Arizona and performed solo and chamber music on four continents.
