Acorda has deal with Danish drugmaker

Acorda Therapeutics Inc. of Hawthorne said a Danish drug company will manufacture a key molecule in a substance that Acorda is using in toxicology studies and early phase clinical trials.

EpiCept’s Nasdaq listing endangered

EpiCept Corp. of Eastview said yesterday that its listing on the Nasdaq market is endangered. The drug researcher said it is out of compliance with Nasdaq rules that require a market cap of $35 million for 10 consecutive trading days. EpiCept said it is working to regain compliance by a May 5 deadline.

Starwood, Sheraton planning new hotels

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. of White Plains said its Sheraton hotel chain is planning a major rollout this year, with North American investment alone valued at $2 billion.

OpHedge starts subsidiary company

OpHedge Investment Services LLC of Rye Brook said it has launched a Singapore subsidiary and opened a New York City office. OpHedge, which processes complex financial products, said the New York City office will focus on fund accounting. The Singapore operation builds upon the company’s Shanghai subsidiary, which opened in the summer of 2006.

Nutrition 21 has new director

Nutrition 21 Inc. of Purchase said today that Mark H. Stenberg was elected to the bioscience company’s board of directors. Stenberg was founder and chief executive officer of Iceland Health, a marketer of fish oil and omega-3 supplements. Nutrition 21 bought the company in August 2006.

Veterinary clinic gets accreditation

Croton Animal Hospital in Croton-on-Hudson said its accreditation by the American Animal Hospital Association has been renewed. Fifteen percent of small animal veterinary practices in the United States have the accreditation, the hospital said.

LeCroy chairman to retire

Oscilloscope manufacturer LeCroy Corp. of Chestnut Ridge said yesterday that Chairman Charles A. Dickinson will retire at the end of his current term this October. Dickinson, 84, has been chairman since February 1999.
