Jay Loomis has been covering business, personal finance and market stories for The Journal News since January 1999. He previously covered business at newspapers in Winston-Salem, N.C., and Decatur, Ala. In past years, he has won numerous journalism awards recognizing coverage of topics such as executive compensation, the skills shortage in the work force and the loss of family farms. Loomis, a graduate of Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn., likes to read and watch baseball in his spare time.
